But really, I've been very very disapointed with people at BA since they ripped off credits when posting information. Haven't been back there since I heard the new. *sigh* why do people have to go to such length for some fame from a manga fandom is something I can never understand >___>

Don't feel bad, I'm not here all the time either. There's always time to catch up on reading and discussions.

Some imbeciles went around labeling others as "Big Name Fandom" and honestly, I still no clue and who the hell they were referring to as internet itself is so vast and wide, and these people brought it upon themselves. Like every other forum and communties its run by fans for the fans.

That's what I'm worried about too. I don't know how you'll do it, but hopefully you'll be able to find out if members are leaking out info and kick them out.

I understand that you wanted to keep this forum open, but were forced to lock it because of annoying and unethical behaviour from 'lurkers'. I totally get why this had to happen. Personally, I don't mind as the first thing I do in DB is log-in. So it's not really a hassle, and there are different options for how long one can stay logged in. I generally stay logged in all day anyway.

But I guess the bigger question for me is: What's to stop one of those 'lurkers' from creating an account here and post the stuff from here to BA under a different name? Locking the entire DB forum makes it one step (having to create an account here) more difficult, but it won't stop the theft. But I'm sure you're all aware of that...

There must be some other way to kind of 'name and shame' these people. Perhaps a thread where we identify and name folks who get DB stuff without permission? That way the DB members can decide how to deal with them. Some might log back in to BA to publicly call them out and neg-rep then. Some might use their tumblr accounts to let that person know that they don't have permission to post that specific item ...

Wow, this is such a surprise to come to today. Anyways, I never really liked the idea of having DB being opened to members only since I think we have nothing to hide and I liked the idea of people reading what we discuss in here. I don't want us to be like FLOL, you know? Oh well, what's done is done, and I respect your guys' decisions. I fully understand why you guys did it, and I'm sorry that you guys are forced to do something that none of you wanted to in the first place. Unfortunately, I know that people are still going to join this forum in order to steal more goodies from here, but doing this to help prevent goodies/arts thieves, is better than doing nothing. I hope from now on people will think twice before they steal from here.

Arie, like others here, I think the update post is fantastic! It will help keep the others updated when they're having problem logging in.

I think your ideas are great! I think the more actions we forced upon them, the lesser they will want to steal from here. At least, I hope so.

Hey guys, long time no see

Shame to see the board had to be locked down, seems it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. On the one hand, locking the board keeps the various new infos and stuff more secure, but on the other it makes things difficult for lurkers (like me, haha)

I do think this is the right call. It seems that all the fallout still hasn't subsided, and there's still a lot of snide and/or ignorant people out there. It seems that truly nothing is sacred on the internet these days. It might sound hypocritical coming from a fandom that survives predominantly thanks to scanlations and subbers - which could both be considered a grander version of the same problem in a way - but you'd like to think there would be a kind of 'honour among theives' for want of a better expression (forgive the negative connotations)
If people are stealing your stuff without credit or aknowledgement, then you have every right to want to protect it. Simple as that I suppose

I mainly lurk out of habit, having a tab open to view everyone's thoughts and ideas is like second nature to me now, haha. So if all it means is to log in for me to keep viewing everyone's input then that's fair enough - though between my job, the various responsibilities of living, and the general laziness that comes with being a 20 year old male, I most likely won't be contributing sorry to say. I'm just happy to be able to follow the latest news and ideas that the admins and members here so readily provide.

None of us wanted it to be this way. But after everything that happened I realize some people are unbelievable. About lurkers joining and posting stuffs elsewhere in other places. We have a way to deal with it. But for now minor stuffs will have to let them pass.

We will find a way for those who can't really log in to get the updates. Let us discuss about this first though. There will definitely be the update thread just for those lurkers to know what's happening in each sections (such as IchiRuki fc has posted May calendar pic by Pikeish, ishida fc is having a loving debate among members ect).

I'm really sad to see it come to this but respect the decisions of everyone inovled.  But, this was the right decision in the long run.  to protect everything that is shared by various people around here.  We cut ties with BA for a pretty dang good reason, and do go there to steal stuff,  so it's too bad  some people don't respect the wishes of the admins, mods, and everyone else who have expressed that what they share does not get shared at BA.
